Biography
Bishop Clement Chinakwe Nwani was the youngest son born into the family of Obah Nwani on July 26, 1946. His father died when he was only 5 years old. He was assisted by several of his relatives to complete his primary and secondary education. Through much struggle, he graduated from Lagos City College, in Sabo-Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria. He then secured a job at an insurance company where he worked for a short while before getting hired as a way-leave officer at the National Electric Power Authority (NEPA) at Marina, Lagos, Nigeria.
The Ministry Call
Bishop Nwani was “born again” in early 1966, through the dynamic ministry of the Foursquare Church in Lagos, Nigeria. He exercised faithfulness and diligence in every assignment he was given, therefore, the Church exposed him to many areas in, and provided opportunities for, ministry. The rare anointing that he carried allowed him to wear many hats in the Foursquare Organization. He excelled in various appointments, from serving as the church general secretary, to sunday school general superintendent, to serving in the youth outreach ministry, to national youth coordinator. He became one of the "fire brands" who preached and evangelized regularly after church services at places such as Igbobi Orthopedic Hospital, at the military base, Welfare Remand Children Home for delinquent children, and at the prisons.
It was while whole-heartedly committed to God in this way, that he encountered his "Sweet Heart," Sister Evelyn, who happened to be
born again at the same time and serving the Lord fervently. They both became attracted to each other and began their courtship. The then "Brother Clement" and his beautiful fiancée eventually answered the call to serve God for the rest of their lives, and together, were admitted to Light House of International Foursquare Evangelism (L.I.F.E.) Theological Seminary, Ikorodu Annex, Lagos, Nigeria. They both graduated with a valuable 4-year diploma in Biblical Studies. After graduation in 1980, at a Church convention, Bishop Nwani was unanimously voted for, and appointed as, the overseer of all the Foursquare churches throughout the eastern states, covering Rivers to Cross Rivers states, of Nigeria. He held this postion from 1980 to 1990.
In 1991, after working extensively in Nigeria, God told him to re-locate to the USA, where on the 2nd of August, 1998, he and his wife co-founded
the Abundant Life Miracle Christian Center, "a Sanctuary of Praise unto God!" He was installed to the office of a bishop, by the Archbishop W. R. Portee in the company of other great men and women of God, on August 14, 2006.
Children
Bishop Nwani and Rev. Mrs. Evelyn Nwani ( "brother Clement and sister Evelyn") were happily wedded on the 11th of August, 1973, at their home church, the Foursquare Gospel Church at Shomolu, Lagos, when he was 27 and she was 23. The Bishop has lived together with his wife since that time, and celebrating 38 years of blessed union this year, to the glory of God.
The evidence of the blessed union is seen in the establishment of the "Nwani dynasty" of Los Angeles, California! The Bishop and Rev. Mrs. Nwani are the proud parents of the multi-talented Nwani Brothers: Pastor Ben, Pastor Victor, Pastor Emmanuel, and Evangelist Christopher, who are all seriously committed to the cause of Christ, and spreading the good news in the inner cities of downtown Los Angeles.
Bishop Nwani and Rev. Evelyn are also blessed with four daughters-in-law: Sisters Sarah, Elizabeth, Josephine, and Danielle Nwani. The Bishop and Rev. Mrs. are blessed with 9 grand-children: Nehemiah, Joshua, Ifeyinwa Favor, Japhet Ebuka, Chi- Chi Blessing, Isreal Ebube, Ogenna Ariella, Joseph, and Deborah, (so far, and many more are anticipated!)
To God be the Glory!
